I have a bunch of Solo 1000 left over from my .38 spcl target shooting days. I was surprised to see the new Hornady manual had load data using Solo 1000 for the .44 Rem Mag shooting a 240 grain LSWC. I tried loads from 5 to 7 grains and found 7 grains to work very well. I am getting low 900's velocity from my 8 3/8" barrel and groups around 2 to 3" at 25 yards from a rest. I was surprised that a fast, high density powder like Solo would work so well in the large .44 case. By the way, my favorite 38 load was 2.6 grains behind a 148 WC, giving high 700's from a 6" 686.

i happened on a can of 20l0 1000, about a year ago and have been loading it in 9mm. 3.7 gr pushes a 125 gr lrn just over 1000fps, makes a decent IDPA load, adequate power to knock down steel, etc. A bit Smokey is my only complaint but the combo is cheap for practice, and adequate for local matches.
