Okay so here is another range report. Had my 6.5 inch barrel 629 and my 6 inch barrel 686 at the range today. Was shooting standing, unsupported, 2 handed, double action at 25 yards. Pictures show 2 pairs of targets. The first target in each pair is the 629 and the second target is the 686. I also shot my little 351C mostly at the 686 target. If you look closely you might see the little holes made by the 22 mag.
I was fortunate to acquire all three of these guns in lightly used condition. 44 magnum a lot of inexperienced people sell after shooting it one time. The 357 I bought from a guy who said he was a 1911 guy. He bought it new less than a year before he sold it to me. He didn't put in the practice to translate his semiauto skills into revolvers. The little 351C I got because the original owner was dry firing it with those aluminum loading practice dummy rounds and aluminum chips were locking the action. I blew it out with cleaner and then oil and compressed air and it works perfectly now.
This was my first time trying Vihta Vouri N320. I loaded 5.2 gr under 148 gr XTreme DEWC for a light 357 mag load and 7.4 gr under XTreme 240 gr for a light 44 magnum load. These were above special level loads. All the rounds fired fine and felt good. It was clean but surprisingly the TiteGroup I wrote about last week was cleaner.
Interestingly the 44 shot a bit more accurately. I find that I am more accurate with bullets that begin with a 4. I believe they are just inherently more accurate.
Sorry all the target pics rotate when I downloaded them. I have to learn how to keep them from rotating.
