I have bad luck with used guns.
Bought a LNIB 637-2 last month. My FFL said the previous owner got it as a replacement gun due to a cracked frame but he didn’t want one with a lock and it looked unfired. So I got it for cheap $400 out the door. Looked brand new.
Had it one day. When dry firing it the cylinder stopped spinning.
Took it back to my FFL who took off the side plate. Gun looked pristine from the outside but it was awful inside - half baked polishing job with scratch marks everywhere. Hand spring was broken. So we sent it in. The factory denied the warranty so sent it to repair - waiting on an invoice to see how much to fix what someone bubba’d.
Years ago got another great deal on a 19-5 trade. But didn’t get a chance to handle it before buying and when it came in there was push off. Had to send that back for repair when the factory used to work on the older guns
Got another deal last year on used 28-2
Thing froze up solid after 12 .38 rounds
Someone did a trigger job but messed up the springs and rebound. Had to get that repaired.
Got a great deal last year on a used LCP Max. Came with an extra magazine and holster. Night site was dim so Ruger sent a replacement - kudos to them. Both front sights seemed off. The darn thing was so inaccurate no one at the range could get it to group worth a damn. Drifted the rear sight as far as it could go but it shot left - had to hold way off target to hit black - my buddy was on several pistol teams professionally and he called it the new Ruger hand shotgun. Different ammo didn’t matter. Sight adjustment didn’t matter.
Got a barely used VP9 two years ago
Ran great with factory ball ammo 115 and 124
Any heavier stuff it jammed
Any reloads even ball it jammed
Very finicky
Last gun I got before this 637-2 was brand new LCP .22
Thing runs great no issues after 300 rounds
Before that my other new gun was a Glock 19 Gen 3
It’s never failed in well over 1000 rounds
Seems I’m cursed with used guns.
Now I do own a 36 no dash, 60 no dash, 66-1 snub and 19-3 all bought used and knock on wood so far no issues but they haven’t been fired much so there’s time for them to mess up!
Anyone else have the curse with used guns and seem to attract lemons?
