Considering getting my wife a 637 airweight handgun. i always like my revolvers to have hammers to put my thumb on. Im liking this model with the crimson trace grips. Is there anyone out there not liking this model? Would this be a good carry weapon? I have my ccw and i carry a 3913, i think a revolver would be simpler for her if she decides to get her carry permit, thanks

I have an imported imitation of a similar gun, a Taurus 85 UL (stainless steel 2" barrel and cylinder with aluminum frame). It weighs about 1 1/2 ozs more that the 637.
I chose it because number 1... I'm a cheapskate and 2 its light, small and easy to conceal/carry.
Recoil is more noticeable than shooting the same 38 special ammo in my S&W 686 but it weighs 42 ozs compared to the Taurus' at just over 16.
I too like an exposed hammer I guess because thats all I've ever owned/used.

If the configuration appeals to you then go ahead. It is certainly a viable option. My daily carry is the hammerless 642 (I prefer double action only for emergency use - less opportunity for an accidental discharge during a serious situation when the adrenalin is running high). But-t-t, that is just me. If you like the 637, go for it.

I'm a believer when it comes to Crimson Trace grips and my 642 us so outfitted with the larger #305 grips - they conceal in a front pocket perfectly and still provide a good hold for control when using +P loads.

I've had 3 637s. Great little guns but They really need the trigger kit from Apex otherwise it's almost impossible to hit anything with them even with the CT grips.

Your wife should try some rental guns at the range first. The Airweights are not the best option for beginners (assuming your wife is a beginner).

p.s. I do totally agree with your statement about a revolver being the better choice for simplicity.
