Looking at getting one or the other and the specs online don't show me the differences between the two, except price. What is the difference?

A 637 no dash would be a used market no lock gun, 637-2 is the current production version.

Swap the grip if you want to shoot it alot.

According to the book the no dash was a run of 500 in 1989. The the dash 1 was introduced in 1996 with a slightly bigger frame and good for +P ammo. And in 2002 they added the internal lock. And in 2010 added the full lug 2 1/2 inch barrel.

As Ron IL mentioned, the 637 (no dash) is a limited run of 500 or so. I have one. They are nice. Clear anodized aluminum frame. Kind of pimp, if that makes a difference to you.

637, 638, and 642, no dashes
