Shooting at the range Saturday I had an unusual problem with my 638. I'd been shooting for a while. Started a new round and pulled the trigger and the hammer did not engage. The cylinder would rotate, but the hammer was not moving. I tried it a few more time, unloaded, and the same happened. (I'm not sure the proper terms here, but when I shoot from double action, I pull the trigger so the hammer is back to a point just before releasing...you can feel it hit that point [full cylinder rotation?]when the trigger is pulled slowly) I then pulled the hammer back manually, pulled the trigger, the gun functioned properly and did after that. Anyone have any ideas why this happened? Hammer seat didn't return? Any responses would be appreciated as I use this as a carry gun and now am fighting doubts about reliability.
