I picked up this 64-2 this past weekend. I've been looking for a snub Model 64 for quite a while. This one came up for sale locally so I decided not to wait and just go for it. It has a AZA serial number which dates it to 1988 I believe...if not someone can set me straight. It set me back $425...not sure if that is too much but since I haven't come across one lately it was worth it to me.
I took this pic of how it was when I picked it up from the seller. I haven't cleaned it up yet. It has some dings and scratches but nothing really bad. It definitely has been carried a lot but not shot very much. The lockup and timing are as good as new.
It is a trade-in from a correctional center. It has PCC stamped on the backstrap, along with a number 6. There are two correctional centers in Virginia that have PCC abbreviations so maybe it came out of one of those.
I haven't decided how I'm going to proceed with it. I think I'll polish it up to try and get rid of some of the scratches but it may eventually get bead blasted.
Either way, I'm pretty pleased with it and can't wait to get it to the range and try it out.
