Around here, you would be likely seeing 550-650 for a nice example.
A number of guys here just got some LEO trade-ins for $399 ? and feel like they stole them....
LGS had a 3" 65 (.357) not to long ago on consignment for $600....so I'd say a bit less for a .38 caliber Model 64.

Around here that would be a fair price. I bought one of the $399 IL versions, and by the time I put in a lock plug, new grips, shipping and an FFL transfer, I have $500 in it!! I would gladly pay a straight $500 for one as you describe, as long as in good condition.

I gave $299.99 plus tax for mine (64-3) in 2008. It was used, no box, no original stocks. In my area now $450.00 would probably be tops. The 3” HB, RB 10 & 64 models used to sell well here, private detectives carried them stuffed with +P loads; the hottest thing allowed by law. That may have changed.

I paid around $240 recently for police turn-in 64. Converted to 3" and round butt. It's my favorite S&W.

The Model 64-3 was made 1977 - 1988. Pinned barrel deleted in 1982.
Regarding year made and serial # AAT64xx
Serial numbers with the double A prefix, i.e. AA, show up in the following years:
1981, 1982, 1983, 1984, and 1985
1981 is probably ruled out because your gun does not have a pinned barrel.
Because serial numbers with letters for prefixes do not follow a logical sequence it would be hard to say the exact year.
After throwing chicken bones on the floor I divine the year was 1983.

We settled for $480 otd. What is the year made? The yoke says mod 64-3, c2 86259, the butt says aat64xx
Guys, you don't need to do the magic chant or fancy dances for this SN.
The standard reference states prefix AAF was from October 1982 and ABL December 1982, so it is plausible that AAT falls somewhere between those two months. Unless the factory went out of alphabetical order, which of course they never do.

Is there a law in Ga that limits PI's to not use +p+ loads if they chose? I realize PD Depts have certain restrictions, but a PI? How and when would that be checked? Thank You Be Safe,

There was a limitation on PI’s using nothing larger than .38 special, I am not sure about ammo or if this still exists. I knew two DeKalb county LEO’s who ran a PI/security company and they carried .38 specials with +P ammo because they preferred the heavier bullets.
I still run into one of those guys so I will ask him if he is current on that info.
I have seen 4” HB 64-2 and 64-3 with and without the pinned barrels but every 3” HB I ever saw was not pinned.
