I am wondering what you'de do.
I am ready to take this to the grinder wheel, Sit with a file and the buffer wheel and make this very nice 64-3 into a round butt revolver.
I prefer the round butt K frames, But it seems unless you are getting something with a 2" barrel, I never see them in a round butt configuration.
This bugger is like new, The tightest smith I own actually.
I had to get it since it was 300 OTD.
I can make it look like it was made a RB model as far as cosmetics go, Not too hard with a SS gun.\
The serial # is well out of the way so that's not a concern, and have plenty of K RB grips in the grip box... Is there one made with a 4" barrel and RB frame?
I have off till wednesday due to the recession. So I am chomping at the bit for something to play with.
Would it be a nono to change this one up?

I'd leave that one like it is, and find a round butt. They aren't scarce. I picked up a 3" 64-3 on Saturday for $300. Good luck! Regards 18DAI.

I like the stainless.
I have stayed away from the wheel so far.

I did this in the 80's to a brand new 4" 66-2. I was never sorry, but they were plentiful then and only $200 new. I still have it and carried it for years on duty.

I saw another thread this morning that seems to indicate the J&G Sales has some used M64 RBs at what seems to be reasonable prices. Howard

Like you I prefer the k-frame round butt. Over the years I have converted several 4 inch square butts to round. The last one was a 66-1 that was a police trade-in. It looked knarly when I got it so I did not give it a second thought. After I converted it I worked on the rest of the gun and it cleaned up amazingly well. I have had several people try to buy it from me but I think this one is a keeper. I would not hesitate to do the conversion if that is what you want. The round butts definately conceal better.

I did it to a 4" model 13/ Blue, Turned out good and a pleasure to shoot,,, Stainless would be alot easier due to the refinishing part isnt there!
I am still dwelling,
I will see if I can dig up J&G sales. and see what reasonable is.

Round that up, then let us know how it worked out. I've got a 64 pencil barrel I would like to RB myself.
