After carrying my 3" 64-7 every day for about a month I decided it still was little too big for every day carry. I'm not a fan of J frames so I decided to search for a k frame snub. Found this one on gunbroker last week for $385 shipped and jumped on it after selling my 3" to a fellow forum member. Its a department of corrections trade in and seems to have been shot very little. I could not believe how clean it was when it arrived to my FFL and to my surprise it came with the original box and papers. I right away noticed the difference the inch shorter barrel made and I think I'm going to very happy once it becomes my edc. :D

Nice catch. ;)

You might find some magnas or boot grips will also aid in comfortable concealment.

The grips pictured are my carry grips and are very comfortable. This one came with the original uncle mike's grips.

Nice!

I was just about to buy a 64 2" off of GB but found a 686-3 2.5" locally so I'll have to wait a bit for the 64...

Anyone know who makes the grips DS has on his 64?

Not 100% sure but they appear to be a set of Ahrends smooth Combat Round Butt grips that have a S&W medallion added.

If they're in good shape, the discontinued Uncle Mike's grips are desirable and usually sell pretty fast here or eBay.

Nice score and great price. To get a ex-LEO gun with the box is pretty rare. Someone in the armory was thinking ahead. Strange the seller didn't mention it in the auction description as it would of potentially boosted the sell price.

It is a good looking gun. I was looking for 1 with no luck. Bought a 36 instead. Will not give up though! Enjoy your find! Bob

This one is a work in progress.

I'll post some after pics, in a new thread, once the project is complete.
I hate to admit it, but I just LOVE my projects! :D

Nice thing about carrying a SS gun down here in the swamp, where getting wet is almost daily in the rainy season, as soon as the sun comes back out it dries with your shirt and won't rust before dark. Joe

I bought the grips on ebay a few months ago. I have no idea who makes them. I will try to post a pick of the inside and maybe someone can figure it out. The original Uncle Mike's grips that came on the 64 I put on my wife's 66, she really liked them.

Here is a pic of the inside of the grips. Maybe some expert can chime in.
