I want to replace the hammer spring on my 642. It works with factory loads but on several of my reloads, (differant primers, Remington, Winchester, CCI) I have too many light hammer hits.

I do a lot of practice with this revolver (min. 200 rounds a week).

Who makes the best spring and what weight should I get to insure positive hammer hits?

Interesting. I've shot many thousands of reloads in my 642's without any problems. Perhaps it is an issue with your reloads? Hard primers? Dirty primer pockets? Primers not fully seated?

With that being said, like Dalton Wayne said, the Apex firing pin will, more than likely, fix your problem.

It could be the reloads, how ever I doubt it, I shoot them in my 5 other 38s without problem.

I like the ideal of the longer firing pin, I have the Apex kit ordered.

Thanks.
