Need some help, I bought a spring kit SWJ-200 from Browells for my wifes 642 to lighten the trigger pull. The factory pull is just to hard for her.The kit comes with one 8lb hammer spring, and three rebound springs a 13lb,14lb,15lb which one do you guys think will work the best but still be reliable. And what poundage does the factory install.
Thanks to all

I stuck with the 14 lb. spring on my 642. I figure it's best to make sure the dang thing goes bang, then worry about every thing else.
642's are fine carrying guns. they seem to have better triggers from the factory than thier stablemates with exposed hammers.
Whichever rebound spring you choose, shoot the ammo that you intend to carry for self defense, not some form of ball or what have you. Make sure the gun goes bang with your chosen defense ammo. AND, have a great week!

I agree with dakasat. A 14lb. spring with 8lb. hammer spring seem to work really well.

I THINK those come stock with a 16# spring but I'm not sure. The rebound spring has much more to do with trigger pull than the main spring does. Get some cases and prime them with CCI primers, which are generally the hardest around. Put in the lightest spring and pop a dozen or two primers. If any of them fail, go to the next highest weight. Once it works for a dozen or two primers, get a box or two of your carry ammo and make sure it goes BANG absolutely every time with that.

I put a Wolf spring kit in my 642. Used the lightest trigger spring and it wasn't light enough for me so I clipped a couple of coils. I used the supplied hammer spring, whatever weight it was. I also lightly polished and lubed the action parts. The result it a much smoother lighter trigger pull and 100% ignition on CCI primers, as well as all other brands of primers and factory ammo. The factory makes trigger pull and hammer strike both much stiffer than necessary as a liability issue I suspect.

if you change any springs, change the rebound spring. It should be reliable with the 13lb, and the pull should feel a bit lighter. I always worry about using lighter mainsprings in a defense/carry gun. Whatever you do, make sure you shoot it plenty with whatever ammo you will be using.
