Steven,
Please give us some more info. Were you shooting and it just stopped in that position after you fired a shot? Were you using factory ammo or reloads.? It is possible that your barrel bulged due to a blockage or an overcharged load. There are other possibilities. I looked at your picture and it appears that you were taking it apart. Were you following a good take-down procedure carefully?
Hi i just bought it and was cleaning it. i was putting it back together and now it is stuck fast. I have a 745 and have never had this issue.
Is it stuck because I cocked it?
It appeared to have not been fired for a very long time.
it seems something is preventing the slide from moving if I could de cock it maybe that would help?
Thanks..I have a few other Smith Auto's and have never seen this before Hopefully this was a one off I may just send it in anyway and let Smith & Wesson check it over.
I am a fan of Smith revolvers and Auto's Pre Hilary hole of course!
Bought my first Revolver a model 19 in 1979 after saving up my army pay...I could not afford the 66...
Anyway thanks for the advice.
If the recoil spring guide rod is not held captive by the tiny notch in the barrel's bottom lug, the slide will jam during reassembly and in a spectacular fashion. Go ahead, ask me how I know.
