I was at a shop that had a 645 in descent but shot shape with 5 mags asking $450.00 no box and had some scratches. Is this a good gun? Is it worth the price? Opinions?

I'd buy it. Five mags are worth around $100 to $150 all day long. That means you're getting the gun for $300 to $350.

Scratches, if they're not too deep, can be removed with grey scotch brite pads and flitz or mother's mag and aluminum polish.

The gun is heavy (low felt recoil). The front sight is part of the slide and won't come off unless it's milled off (2nd generation gun).

It's a beautiful model and would make a great bedside companion.

I too am looking at a local 645 for $400 with 3 mags. He wanted $500, but there is a small amount of pitting at the edge of the grips, but otherwise, the gun is very clean. Also, he replaced the decocking/safety levers with a set from a 4506, which didn't fall off like the original ones did. I had a 645 when they were new, & I regret selling it, so here's a chance to get one back in a private sale. GARY

Got it

Went and got it today. Came with 5 mags but one is for a colt 45. I cannot ever get more than one pic at a time for some reason. He knocked of $25.00 when I asked if he'd come down.
