Hey everyone,
After getting my first real revolver, a 442, I am thinking about getting a stainless gun with more punch and less finish concern (I.E., a stainless) for routine carry. Specifically, I was looking at the 649.
I also read an article awhile ago (source: Ayoob, Massad.(2009) "S&W Gives its Customers What They Want". American Handgunner. Mar-Apr 2009) claiming that S&W would begin producing 442 and 649 models without the lock in 2010.
So- did these/are these ever going to be produced? I do not like the lock feature, so would prefer a gun without it, but would also prefer a new gun over a used model. I am just looking to see if I am confined to hunt for a used model, or if I can find a new one.
