65-2 357 mag

Friend of mine has a S&W marked MOD. 65-2 in 357 mag, fixed sights, serial 782## and what looks to be a very faint A7 (marks by cylinder). it is an older looking gun, stainless. Not in the best shape but just trying to figure out the ball park value and if it is something I should get off him before he trades it in tword the the same 357 I shoot. any info/insight would be appreciated.

The 625 is a caliber .45ACP, or .45 Colt. Could it be a 627 perhaps?

i believe you may have a typo, the 625, comes in two flavors, 45 acp, and 45 colt, but anything is possible,

thanks, my lee 2017 guide has it in good condition for for 225. I will scoop that up on the cheap since they probably will offer him **** for it since they use this same guide.

You don't say what the barrel length is, but the way you are holding it I would guess a 4". At any rate, it's a pinned and recessed gun, which adds some value.

In case it's a 3", though, price would be even better, since it could be one of the 65-2 models produced for the Massachusetts State Police in a pinned and recessed version that's uncommon. It would be marked Mass State Police on the backstrap, which is covered by those aftermarket Pachmayr stocks, if you wanted to take a look and see.
