Are there any other SS models that use a hammer that's interchangeable with a 65-3 ?
I realize that there may be two different spur widths.
The project is to replace a modified spurless hammer with an oem hammer.

Almost any K Frame hammer from the same period will fit your model. Most of the Stainless models Smith made have Flash Chromed finishes or Case Colored finishes. Only the very early models actually had true stainless hammers and triggers, then they switched due to production issues. You can get hammers and triggers in different configurations but you have decades of years selection as they remained the same for many decades. Once you get into the late 90's or early 2000's they did change triggers and hammers.

I swap between spurred and spurless hammers on my 3” 66. I made the spurless from a spare k frame hammer I had laying around. No fitting was required. As mentioned before, most k frame hammers made prior to about 97/98, should work with little to no fitting.

FYI for all interested:

I have found in the past that gun shows usually have a parts guy or two. Most of the parts I have purchased from them over the years have been new. I can only suppose that new parts were bought from S&W's over runs, discontinued models, parts company's that have gone out of business, etc. Be that as it may, the vast majority of the parts were new, in perfect condition and worked just like factory issue. Since it's been a while, I HOPE the parts available are still good ones, but time may have effected that of course.

I would not purchase used parts because you never know (at a gun show) if they were installed, sharpened, modified, etc. You really need an Optivisor or good magnifying glass to see that. Used parts from Numrich have sometimes been OK and sometimes have had to be exchanged as they were no good. When buying from a parts company such as Numrich, they just pull one out pf a box and ship it. I highly doubt they closely inspect it before selling it. The good thing is that if Numrich sends you a stinker, they wil stand behind it and send you another one.

When I have in the past run into a reputable gun parts seller at a show who had somewhat reasonable prices or was willing to negotiate for quantity, I have bought a descent supply of parts for my collection. I believe I have enough to repair each model I own without buying outside parts now. I can't remember buying a S&W part for decades now. That gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling.
