657-2 Question

I just picked this piece up today. I've not seen one in this configuration. Can anyone tell me if this is a common variation or were there not many made like this. It's 6 1/2" barrel with an unfluted cylinder, target hammer & trigger, full underlug, pre transfer bar safety. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks for the info. Prefix is BHB. Are these very desireable or worth just as much as any other 657?

Mine is prefixed as CAH. But I think it is a Round butt. I have not looked at it in some time.

I'd say slightly higher around here. Darn good looking revolver and looks all business That is a deer slayer round and revolver of the highest order. With that long sight radius a good rest, an accurate round, plus a good set of eyes a deer would be an easy target at 50 yards. My longest shot on a Sitka Blacktail was 120 paces years ago when I had better eyes with my trusty 6" no dash 57. I shouldn't have taken the shot as I was off on the range and too far, but one shot did it's job. Have 45 deer with the round and counting. Might have to put a good red dot scope on it as I just can't see as well these days.
