Just picked up a Smith & Wesson Model 66 - 1
Can anyone tell me the year of build. Serial number is 67k1766. Thanks Doug

It's impossible to tell when it was built. All you can tell is when it shipped. Since the spread can be years between ship dates, only a factory letter can pinpoint the date. I'll let our expert guessers give their guesses. Great gun by the way. What's the barrel length?

1978 is my guess. These were so popular, the build date and ship date were probably within days of each other
