66-3 trigger stop?

I got a 66-3 and there is a narrow cutout slot behind the trigger. Inside I recall that there is a threaded hole, and I thought I heard something about it being for a trigger stop to minimize single action over-travel? Not that I ever thought of a 66 as being a target revolver or anything, and sounds like bad news for something to go wrong in a defensive gun application. Anyone ever install the trigger stop or have one with it?

You are right about that slot, it is for a trigger over travel stop. If the revolver is to be a TARGET only gun, you may see some benefit from the stop.
If it a defense weapon, you should not have the stop, as they have had a few issues with them loosing up and binding the trigger from firing the weapon.
I have the stops in my target guns, but I would not have one in a gun that could be used in a defense situation.

All K-T (K Target) framed guns have the slot for the trigger stop. Except for dedicated bullseye target shooters the trigger stop can pretty much be disregarded or removed. All K-T guns are target guns, regardless of what use you would wish to put it to.

S&W used the same little screw that holds on the adjustable sight to hold the trigger stop. The stops were removed by the thousands, from duty/service K frames, in the 70's. That was either by the LE department armorer or similar. After a short while, S&W simply did not install stops in what they deemed might be duty use K frames.

Thanks. I also belatedly reviewed old posts that showed in "similar threads" that I did not see at first till I scrolled far enough down. Duh. I do have a 64-3 and it does not accommodate a trigger stop but the SA over-travel is less than on the magnum for some reason. It also is lighter in SA. But relatively, both are light and crisp.
