Hi all, been looking at this forum for a long time, haven’t really posted much, but going through here, I seen a post about a model 66-5, pinto, product code 149189, with a 3 inch barrel, being an exceptionally rare find, and worth a few dollars. Well I have one of those with the original box, not planning on selling, just trying to find out, is this true, did I stubble upon a treasure?

Not aware of a factory model like that, but anything's possible. Someone with hands on the big book needs to chime in.

In the meantime, post pics of the gun and box, to include label, and we can better help.

Seen plenty 2.5" 66-5's with a blued cylinder, product code 149188 but not a 3".

Sources say 500 were made starting in October of 2,000. Give or take.. That's not a large number, but enough, if true, to take it from the "rare" category. Opinions on what the word even means vary.

I can say I've seen very few for sale over the years, so that 500 could be questionable. Getting it to the eyes of the right collector would be the best way to earn top dollar. Comprable guns have sold for double the price of an otherwise similar standard M66.

I too would like to to see a picture of the box lable.
