66-7

[Electraclyde]

Ran across a 66-7 with, I think a 2.5" barrel, stainless finish, in a LGS today. It does have some surface marks that will probably polish out. Locks up very tight, no flame cutting. This was probably made in 2004 or 2005. Asking price is 425.00
What say the experts? Worth having? I am not a collector, I am a shooter.
This also may have had some trigger work done. The double action pull is smooth and steady, no stacking. The single action is very light.


Went this morning and bought the gun. Will clean it up some while looking at the internals. If the weather Gods co-operate, I will take it to the range tomorrow to see how it shoots.

I have one of those. It was an Australian cop sell back from a couple years ago. The lock was deactivated by the Aussies. I love the gun. It came with Uncle Mike grips. I believe I paid $450 for mine (but it was in great shape).

In the current era, that's one of the lowest retail prices I've seen on a M66.... ever.

I saw one on GB. It looked like it had a 2 piece barrel. I don't remember the price, but I am sure it was quite a bit more.
I ended up "winning" a dash 2, in excellent condition, for $725.
$425 sounds very low to me. I really like mine. It came with rubber grips. I have replaced them with Ahrend finger grove boot grips.

100% no doubt in my mind you need to buy it as a shooter. the 66 snubs are super shooting revolvers.

no reason to spend more on a pre lock model for your intended purpose. no reason to spend more on one with less cosmetic wear. no reason to spend more on one with box and papers.

buy it. shoot it. enjoy it.

if it ends up being one of your favorite shooters and down the road you want a pre lock variation or one in better cosmetic condition, you'll get your money back out of this one at this super price.

the lowest priced 66 snubbie i've seen in the last 12 months was a mechanically sound -1 with non original grips, handling marks of a carry gun and shooter for $500.

I have 4" 66-7 that is a shooter. Odd that you mention the surface marks. Mine has some odd marks/swirls in the finish. When I first got it in my hands (got it from GB), I just thought it was one that was shot a little/carried alot. Maybe not??

What grips are those on your gun? Something like that would look good on the one I bought today. It has Uncle Mike's rubber grips on it now.

Went to the range today, (cold and snowing hard, not the best day for shooting.) with the 66-7 that I bought yesterday. Last night I assembled some home loads of various bullets and powder.
Today I sent 64 rounds downrange. Gun is very accurate with most loads. It liked the Speer 158gr semi jacketed soft point over 7.8grs of power pistol the best.
I still cannot figure out how to post pics here.
