66 ND w/stainless sights

Was busy this morning at my local fishing hole.

66 ND with stainless sights $800 2K54934

Not a big fan of 4" 66s or polished stainless guns, but whoever polished her did a great job. All roll marks are crisp, line between the polished flats and matte top strap is sharp, screw holes aren't dished and side plate is perfect. I didn't really want a 4", but I've always wanted an early 66 or 67 with a stainless sights.

The early SS site 66 and 67 are a must have for any serious K frame enthusiast because they are unique, incidentally an early 4" tapered barrel Model 64 rounds off the early SS K frame trio.

For some reason I don't see many 4" Model 66-1's pop up .

The majority of 66s I see are 2.5", usually dash 1 and 2s.
I'd seen it in the gun in the case for the past month or so, but because it was a 4" I didn't give it a second look. I didn't notice the stainless sights until I had her pull it out so I could check the fit of the aforementioned 4" Mitch Rosen holster. Bingo!

My 67 is a transition gun; old series serial number, but no pinned barrel.

Your Model 67 should actually be a 67-1.
The Model 67 has a slightly different evolution than the Model 66, although both moved the gas ring from yoke to cylinder in 1977 there was no revision advance for the deletion of the barrel set pin alone,

The order to stop recessing Model 66-1 cylinders came down about the same time but they kept the 66-1 revision until the supply of recessed cylinders was gone, that's why there are late production Model 66-1 without a barrel set pin with recessed cylinders but you won't find a 66-2 with a recessed cylinder.

You're correct, it's a -1. I was just being lazy. Seems the 67 never enjoyed the fame the 66 or the 15 still does. Perhaps there were fewer 67s produced.

The 67-3 changed from the old narrow rib barrel to the same style wide rib barrel (without an ejector rod shroud) as the 15-5 and up had although there is no mention of it in the SCSW-3rd ed

I agree. I wanted one just because they're different and I don't often see them in the wild. Also, I am not a fan of kitchen-table bright stainless, but this one looks to have been executed by a professional.
