Birdsong prices have went up a bit in recent months. AND....it can take a lifetime (or seemingly) to get a Birdsong finish. It's good stuff, but they work an individual gun in among all their contract work. I got a 1911 frame done in 3-weeks, but a friend waited for close to a year on a long gun. I will also say....that if you ever went there and dealt with those people in person....you'd likely never go back.

The Birdsong finish is good stuff and that's a fact IMHO. Whether-or-not in enhances the value of any gun is in the eye of the individual.

I think the OP is talking about a PC gun that came from the factory with the Birdsong finish,Not sending a gun in to be finished.

Understood....I need to look at the S&W catalog more often.:) I am sure they "stopped the presses" if they finished any serious number for S&W under contract and got those done rather quickly. The facility would be quite surprising to anyone who could find it. It's out in a rural area and can be hard to find, even if you think you know where it is. You can read the story of how that finish was developed and the family carries-on with the good name. They do a lot of military-type work and there's a helicopter-pad out back for when those land there to pick-up or drop-off stuff. I think the point I should have been making was that if you do find a gun with the Birdsong finish, it's not all that easy to get on there, quite rare and would possibly add some value.
