I'm going to send my new-ish to me 686-1, 8-3/8" back home for some work. It needs a new yoke, because it has had the crap beat out of the button. Somebody has really buggered-up the slot in the yoke where the screw rides and beat the button down to accomodate. (OK, I helped in beating the button down). I'm talking about the slot being 1-1/2 times its original width.

The horrible endshake is around 0.012". The single action trigger pull is crisp, but the double action pull is a bit grainy.

So, I need a new yoke / fix endshake and reset the B/C gap. I'd like to have the action "cleaned up. What do I ask for? Would having the barrel crown recessed aid in long range (50-100 yds) accuracy?

Thanks

If you are sending the gun to S&W, just describe what the problem is and they will repair or replace defective parts. They do a great job.

That's about what I did. For some things, I told them what I wanted done like replace yoke and set B/C gap to 0.006" with minimal endshake. I also told them the results I wanted regarding other issues. "smooth double action trigger pull / action job, please advise"

Shipping via FedEx was $65. ouch.
