I am thinking this 686-3 may be a classic hunter.

My 686-3 Classic Hunter is just like the one pictured above except it has a standard S&W front sight and Hogue finger-groove rubber grips. S&W press releases stated that they planned to make only 5000 of them. Mine is a great shooter with one deer to its credit.

Love it!! That is exactly what I would like to buy in the future. Looks great, also think the grips look nice.

WJR,

Did you actually want the PP model? In my case, a gun range employee I know happened to be selling his and I couldn't refuse. I've thought about having SDM Fabricating cutdown the barrel. But, I may also use it for whitetail deer hunting so the barrel length is perfect.

Actually, I did for two reasons:

1. The first three letters of the serial are: BUD. I called my great grandfather, Bud, and he passed away a few years ago.

2. This gun is the one I taught my wife how to shoot with, the long barrel plus the porting made the recoil very manageable for her and helped her to overcome her fears about shooting.
