PPC

I don't have a 686 but this is my PPC gun(one of them) ...This one is built on a 13 Frame ...most are 38s but this was what I had at the time...Its VERY accurate will do 1.5" @ 50 yards and is my favorite to shoot...Very adjustable and very predictable...It has a 1 1/8" barrel ,little heavier than most but I like it this way and don't have to add weights at the bottom.
I'm young in this class but still a bit old school,I still prefer the K frames as I've seen the L frames done and like them but the money is more and just has never been there for me ..still like them in there stock configuration for regular matches.
I will be doing another one of these in the near future and look foward to seeing what all is out there.

I'm Glad Lee started this section, and for this reason I love the PPC and heavy barrel shooting...

Attached is a picture of my 10-7, which has been rebuilt by Bob Jones of Jackson, MS. It has a 1 3/8" diameter barrel, that I had Mr. Jones lighten by 6 ounces after my shoulder surgery. I also have a Model 64, built with the full 1 3/8" barrell that is my regular match gun (just don't have any pictures of it). In their current match configuration my 10-7 weighs in at 6 pounds even while my Model 64 weighs in at 6.5 pounds.

Most of the new guns at my gun club that are recent builds are all 686's. Still a lot of the older K frames (including mine) but all that I have seen that are recently built are 686's. One thing you might consider, if you are thinking about a heavy round barrel, the 1 1/8 or larger heavy barrels are hard to find a holster to fit. I have one that is the standard 1 inch and most holsters will fit it. I have another that sports a 1 1/8 inch diameter barrel and I like to never found a holster that accepts that barrel. Finally found a used Reno holster (no longer made). Most of the new guns I have seen have slab side barrels and there are current manufactured holsters that will work fine with those.

If you are looking for a holster for the larger diameter barreled PPC revolvers you can make a simple modification to the Safariland 002 holster. Loosen the two screws at the barrel end of the holster, place the revolver in the holster and tighten the screws as tight as you can, without striping them. Use a hair drier or heat gun on the area of the holster around the barrel. Get the holster hot, but be careful, if using a heat gun, not to melt the holster. let the holster cool completely, and then loosen the screws and remove the revolver. Adjust the screws for the amount of tension you prefer. This has worked well for me, and the plain kydex seem to work better.
