Pawn shop are a great source as you never know what you're going to find I've bought some real nice S&Ws in pawn shops like my Model 547 3" for I believe it was $275 a few years ago. It's hit and miss, but a lot of fun searching.

I found a nice used -4 4" a couple of weeks ago at one of my LGS hangouts. It was on consignment and came home with me for a couple hundred less than I was prepared to pay. A little Mothers Mag and she looks like new. Seek and ye shall find. They are waiting for new homes.
