Hello, can you guys help on putting a price on a 686-4 6 inch barrel. Original grips. Just the gun, no box. Condition is very good. Thanks

MooMoo probably has it about right.

They are still making 686s albeit with the lock. But a lot of people do not care about the lock and that is what the new ones are selling for.

I concur $750-$800, I just bought a similar gun for $600 but it isn't in as good of shape as that one is. Didnt come with original grips either hideous Pachmayr half wood, half rubber junk. I know the dealer and was able to get a pretty good deal on it

Prices have been coming down for guns, and gas and everything else has been up and going up.
Even here in Southern California, I've seen em for $750.

No box, I'd say $825-875 locally. It would go for more on Gunbroker. Some people don't mind the lock, but more are willing to pay a premium for one without it.

-4s are a little more desirable because the top strap is factory D&T'd for an optic, which may be handy with that long barrel. $800 or less would be a fair price.

If you were selling in California it would be $1000-$1200 or more. I saw a used newest version S&W Model 19 with the lock at my LGS a couple days ago and it was just a few bucks shy of $900. I bought my used S&W Model 686-6+ from them a few months back and it was $850. That was with a deal.

That is an early 686-4. Has wood target square butt stocks, hard chrome trigger and hammer and probably old style cylinder. My guess it's late 1993 or early 1994. Might be worth more to folks that prefer a square butt on their 686-4.
