Last week I was on a road trip to find 90 gr. bullets for reloading my 380 and came to a local LGS and they were out.
But saw in the used glass case a 686-4 with a 4" barrel. Sticker was $368.00, I thought it must be shot out or something wrong, seemed low for a 686 plus. Looked it over and it was dirty, barrel cone rubber grips, but lock up was tight, action was very smooth. DA pull great. Asked the sales man about how long it's been here and he said I saw the man came in yesterday with a ar 15, rem. 700 and this 686 in a nice hard case. Just put it out this morning. I bought the revolver, took it home and cleaned it up. Wow, I will send pictures asap. Cleaned up very nice. I think the guy carried it hunting and never shot it. Went to the gun range and it was a tack driver after adjusted the R/L some. I found a very nice 686-4 and I think I got a good deal ? The black crud on the new looking cone and cylinder came off very easy. :D

The 686-4 is the last revision with a forged hammer trigger but first with a RB frame only but still has serrated tangs,
the dash 5 has MIM hammer trigger smooth tangs but is the last of the pre IL.

You probably got that for about half price, congrats.

You did good John, real good! I agree with Engine49 that you probably got that gun for about half off. Congratulations. The 686-4 with 4 inch barrel seems to be the most sought after 686. We look forward to seeing pics.
