Won a GB auction from out of state I had to have it shipped to my FFL the price was $530 When it arrived my FFL looked it over handed it back to me and said " Its never been fired except for the factory test "
Now I had planned to use it as a car weapon BUT now another safe queen Have to say that I thought the 3 inch I own was a, " scary looking piece " This beats the heck out of any fear factor

Early this year I got a 2.5 686 plus on gun broker for $560 in like new condition. The gun is 10 years old and is one of the best shooting Smiths I have had. The short ejector rod is the only down side on these guns. Otherwise you have your self one hell of a nice gun !

Just an update to those who responded
My edition of the standard Cat is edition 3 I cant find the serial CNW there so I gather it was produced after the book was published
The mail charge was $25.00 My FFL charges $15.00 to have it shipped to him --- So if my math is correct I am into it for $575 which I consider still a good deal
I have labored over to keep it unfired or use it since It isnt a highly regarded piece I think I will shoot and use it daily
Question ---- The box contained all the paper work INCLUDING the S&W mail in card to record the sale Should I still mail it in since it seems to have never been place on S&W records
Thanks In Advance

I wish to hell I could luck into deals like some of you.

I paid $540 for a 686-1 2.5" that had been shot very little, but used as a truck gun.

I had it looking like new in about 2 hours thou.

Sent it off to S&W for the M stamp...almost 2 months ago.
