Just purchased one today at field and stream with a great discount. I love my 29-2 but I think this is such a great shooting and well balanced handgun. I enjoy shooting it more than my 29 . Have never shot any 686 before but I think it's going to be my favorite gun anyone else like them that much? Thanks for opinions

Congratulations. The 4 inch 686+ was my first handgun, and everyone who puts it in their hands shoots it well.

I love my 6" 686 no dash the most for shooting and my 6" 66-1 2nd. My 58 comes in third.

I have a 4" 686 no dash but I haven't had a chance to shoot that one just yet.

I'm selling my 5" 686+.

Congratulations on new 686 , Flitz will polish it up real nice .I have a 686-6 plus 2.5 barrel would like a 4 inch to go with it someday . I've been shooting Georgia Arms .357 158 gr SWC .38 spl SWC and Remington .38 spl+P 125 gr SJHP.

4" 586

I carry my 4" 586 every day in a Tucker Texas Heritage, it's my favorite combo.

This past spring I bought a slightly used 686-4 6" to play in local steel games. Absolutely love shooting the 686. Just this weekend a sweet, Nelson Ford-tuned pre-lock pre-MIM 686-4+ 7-shot 4" with speedloaders, Galco Phoenix holster, and Kramer scabbard came my way. IIRC this model is not especially rare but it is somewhat desirable. Very pleased. Going to work it into rotation with the 629 Mountain Gun. What .357 loads do you like for woods carry/bushwacking?

I have a 2 1/2" 686+ and a 3" 686+, and the 3" is a favorite.

I also have a number of K frames (5" Victory Model, 2" Pre-Model 10, 4" Pre-Model 10, 3" Model 13, 6" Model 14, 4" Model 15, 6" Pre-Model 17, 6" Model 17, 4" Model 19, 6" Model 19, and 6" Model 66).

I enjoy shooting them all as the grip on the K and L frame revolvers fits me well. However, the L frame 686 has the advantage of a bit more weight in any given barrel length to soften the recoil a bit and the rubber grips you find on most of them do a good job absorbing recoil.
