This really isn't meant to be a, "Did I do good....." thread or a, "What's it worth" thread, but I am curious to know what 3" 686-6 plus - 7 shot (yes, with lock) are bringing - street prices on these?
Yes, I did grab one today, all box, docs, 4 speed loaders and a nice basket weave, leather, two speed loader pouch. Really trying to decide to keep it or use it as trade fodder, hence my, "Street prices?" question.

I'd say $700-$750 with gun, box, and papers. You are easily describe $100 worth of extras.

I watched the same configuration with no accessories, sell for $750.00 a couple weeks ago. I thought it was a good buy, with new guns almost nonexistent right now.

That gun you bought is very nice. I have its twin. Once you shoot it you might change your mind about trading. Good luck either way.

I have to agree with SS57. I took possession of my 3" 686-6 last year, and I can't believe how smooth the DA trigger is on it. It is nothing like the trigger on my K38s, it's buttery smooth.

If I put a set of Magnas on it I'd have a triplet for you:

I have a couple of sets of Magnas that will fit but I happen to like the goodyears that S&W put on it.

I can't recall what I paid for this sweetie but it was from a nice fellow on this Forum, and a few years ago at that, and probably around $600 at the time. $750 without the accessories sounds about right for today.

Note: this still pristine 3" 686+ has been my bedside gun for years and was the gun that was with me when I thought my outside storage building was being burglarized in 2018. Twas a fire inside, not goblins - the alarm text on my phone confused me (not important). I literally ran outside with this gun, then discovered the fire, went back inside and, because of the way I was dressed (think bathrobe and sleep clothes), I put the gun under my pillow before exiting the house permanently. The fire was out before it reached the gun and I asked a fire fighter to retrieve it for me, which he did. I unloaded it and asked a neighbor to store it and I took it back some time thereafter with nary a mark upon it. :)

Still sits by my bed every night.

I sold my 686-6+ Stocking Dealer Exclusive on GB last year and it went for under $600. :(

Had I known that was all I was going to get for it I would have kept it.

That brings up a question I've wondered about...When you list a gun on Gun Broker are you obligated to sell it at whatever is offered (or bid if that's a better word)?...Can you withdraw your item, or does it have to stay?...I've never sold one there so I don't know......Ben

So just what is it about these dang 3" K-L framed revolvers?? I honestly would not have given this a second look otherwise.

(HINT: The question is rhetorical);)

mod34, I can not speak for the K frame 3 inchers b/c I only own 2 1/2" and 4" ers. I bet they are sweet though. The L frame 3's just balance so well and have a bit of heft. They look outstanding and just may be more versatile than my 4 incher. Hickok 45 has a nice review of the 686-6 3". And to boot you have 7 rounds of 357 on tap. Should be good for most SD situations.

You can set a reserve price and don't have to sell below that. But yes, once it meets your reserve, you're expected to sell it.

It would be possible to withdraw it but you'd probably never be allowed to sell at that auction again.

I recently paid close to $800 on Gun Broker for a like new 4" 686-6. You might find something cheaper but it won't be basically un-fired like mine was. When it comes to a 686, I really wanted one that had not been fired much because I plan to shoot it a lot. When a listing gets down to the last min, you can also get into a little bidding war sometimes with the last bidder who thinks they won the bid until you ruined their day :)

I find including any accessories to the sale of most firearms generally do not increase the value.

Just bought my first 686P-6 new from my LGS for $829. Shot it today for the first time and wish I had bought one years ago!! It's the 4in barrel. I have 29-2's and have had model 27's, and I'll be looking for another 686 soon. Thanks for the great information I've learned from this forum!
