Holy asking price batman...
went to Gbroker and someone is asking $1900 for a CS-1 2m...
used, no box, no papers... that is a ridiculous price right..? OR has the market changed that much for that price to even be close to reasonable?

It is high, but not to the extent that someone who wants it badly won't pay it. As you may have noticed, buying guns (or other collectibles) is not an entirely rational process :).

They aren't making anymore of them, and you don't often see them up for sale. It may linger for awhile on GB before they lower the price, or someone may buy it that has always wanted one and has some mad money to spend.

Lol, yep, not a rational process at all [emoji16]

The reported story is that issued CS-1s were rechecked at the agencies that had them and were checked a second time after the M modification. It is thought to be a sign of US Customs or LE use. No way to confirm this, as used issue guns may have been sold privately or unissued ones as NIB/surplus.

One just went for $2225 on GB in beautiful shape probably as good as they get. I would love to have a 3" cs-1 but not at that price. Now if money was no concern I would have it to the range the day I received it.

Yup, whatever somebody wants badly enough. I just paid $200 for a pair of N Frame Diamond Magna Grips on EBAY. . .early post-war production. I "wanted" them so I was willing to pay too much. Actually, I think I "needed" them for a gun I own. There's always somebody willing to pay too much. I try to make sure it's usually not me.

Does anybody know what year the CS-1 was introduced? Or how about a serial number starting point?

I picked up this one at a gun show about 10 years ago. The dealer had a bunch of LE trade in 4" 686s and this one 3" CS1. He thought CS stood for Custom Shop.

BAB serial number and 2M stamped. It also has a large M stamped on the grip frame. The grips appear to be correct for CS issued guns. It's got a lot of holster wear, but locks up tight and shoots great:

Fffff
