686 CS-1

Can you please tell me what the visible difference is between a 686 3" and a CS-1?

Black front sight on CS-1 (no red ramp), black rear sight (no white outline), and a satin finish on the stainless. I believe they were issued with Pachmayr compact grips, at least mine came that way. Bill.

look for the "CS 1" stamp...the front sight is narrower than the standard 686 sight...1/10" vs 1/8"

Another question, why are all the guns I like nowhere to be found or WAY too expensive? 3 examples below:

3" 66
3" 65LS
3" CS-1

What's a guy got to do to find a 3" .357 S&W around here!!!

true...or with luck, you can latch onto one if the seller is unaware that it's a CS-1. that does happen too.

3" 66s and CS-1s will be pricey if the seller knows what they have. 3" model 65s are out there in the $400-450 range, just don't hesitate when you find one .

Funny you should mention it...a 65LS just showed up on the for sale board here. $575 seems a bit steep though.
