I just purchased a 686 no dash I think, it has the M over 686 and the other side of crane has c13 what does this mean?

The M indicates it has the newer hammer nose and bushing, which were retrofitted to the 686 through -2. Certain primers would flow back with firing and tie up the gun, and the fix prevented this.

C13 is a factory internal code (assembler, fitter) but no one is sure exactly what these mean, probably not even the factory at this point :). Hope this is helpful.
