686 midnight value

Can you post some photos. I've never seen such a beast and I'm really interested to see what she looks like.

Thanks,
Bob

Most people mistake it for a 586. I would say 10-15% over a regular 686 in like condition. I'm trying to remember if that is the same matte finish as on my 36-6 of about the same vintage. If so it is a little "tender", and mars fairly easily.

I saw one a whole bunch of years ago. But, I was thinking it had a shiney black finish, like a blued 586.
I checked an old copy of the 'Blue Book' I have, Didn't even see it listed..

I also remember hearing what H Richard said ,, that the finish didn't wear well..

I had a 4" that I traded off a number of years ago. The finish was closer to matte than a traditional blue, definitely a black finish. For the right buyer it will be worth a slight premium over a standard 686.

H Richard is right on the mark with his comments on the value and the softness of the finish.

IT WOULD PROBABLY SELL FOR GOOD MONEY AS A SCARCE VARIANT, IN LNIB CONDITION TO A COLLECTOR. A BEAT UP ONE, WON'T BE WORTH AS MUCH AS A STANDARD 686 IN SIMILAR CONDITION, WHOSE FINISH IS EASILY POLISHED OUT……..
