686 owners and 627 owners its time to do battle, convince me which is better

Strange, I could have sworn the .45LC/ACP and .44 SPL Handejectors were built on N Frames. My Model 1917 (.45 ACP) was built in 1919, and I could be mistaken, but I think that was a few years before the .357 debuted.

You are correct sir! Very good point.

I have the 586 and the M&PR8 and I prefer the performance of the M&P but I like the looks of the 586. I say go for the 627. It has all of the 586/686 has and then some minus the extra weight.

New to the forum and I snagged up a 627 pro and will have it in a couple of days. It is my first revolver and probably won't be my last. At some point will probably end up getting another one.

One more vote for the 686. I love love love my 686+ 4" I will never sell it.

My only 686/686P - a 2004 'Stocking Dealer Exclusive' 5" half lug 7-shooter that came with the HiViz and Ahrends grips. Also shown is one of my 627's, a 4" 627 Pro, with HiViz and Ahrends Retro Targets added.

I love both. But... guess which one has cobwebs on it? Hint: It only chambers seven. I really like the 627's. Eight-bangers rule! Of course, I'm not as old as some folks around here... I'm only 63!

Your guns are newer than mine, and I'm 33 ;)

I have the first Model of the Performance Center 627 with a 5" barrel and I have a 686. While my 627 is something to enjoy looking at and handling, my 686 shoots equally well and is therefore more practical.

Let me throw out my vote for the 327 TRR8. Scandium frame, stainless cylinder, 8-shot with moon clips, Performance Center trigger job, gold bead front sight, 5" barrel, and it's a SHOOTER. Probably lighter than the 686+ as well. Love mine - absolutely my favorite revolver.

I have a 627 PC 4" and a 686 Talo 5".
I like both a lot, if I had to keep only one, I think I'd settle on the 627, but that's a tough call.

Sorry my friend ...... You're talking about two legendary guns that are both well thought of; that stirring this pot just to see what you scrape off the bottom of the pot seems below anyone that loves the 38/347 family of wheel guns. BUT ..... if ya stir up anything be sure to get pics and video. ;)

N Frame caliber should start with 4...............

LOL! The flutes on those 7&8-shot cylinders do look pretty weird!

BTW: someone earlier claimed the ".357 started it all" (N frames)
The first N-frame was the Triple Lock, introduced 27-years prior to the .357.

I usually don't venture into anything larger than 38/357 caliber, so the L-frame is my favorite/maximum frame size. Sure wish I had a 696.

I love my 686SSR but I really want to delve into the 327/627 family of wheelies in the near future.

I own a 627 Performance Center and it is my favorite "go-to" gun. Super sweet shooter and it really turns the heads. Everyone wants to know what the cool revolver with the slab sides and long, angled underlug is at the range. 686s are a dime a dozen, but you don't see a 627 PC every day. But for CCW, neither the 627 or the 686 would be my first choice. I'd rather have the 2.5" K-Frame Model 19 or Model 66.

If you've got a dozen 686's, I've got a dime for you. As many dimes as you can fulfill orders for.

Can anyone recommend some good front and rear fixed night sights?

I replaced my front sight with an XS BIG DOT, the rear I left adjustable, but replaced w/ TRU GLO inserts. Pretty easy switch, I have 3 dot night sight set up. I cannot provide a picture as it's my duty weapon and I leave it work in my locker
