I can't get the search function to work. What is a decent price to offer on a six inch, no lock model 686 with box and paperwork. Pistol has had 50 rounds through it and looks pristine.

Thanks,
David

I would guess $500, perhaps a little more since the box and contents are part of the deal. Given current retail prices, others may differ to a higher figure.

By the way, 500 euros is $669.25 ;) . Hope this is helpful.

In the US I would say around 450-500 dollars is a fair offer in a private sale. In my area this would be a 600 dollar gun at full retail and most shops will dicker on that price. As for box and papers, the 686 is of recent enough production that I really don't consider this of much importance, the plain truth is that these guns won't be collectable for another 50 or 100 years.

Some of us internal lock haters might disagree with that. I see really nice 686s selling for over $500 on auction sites all the time and have paid between $450 and $650 for the six I bought in 2010. Yes, I see rougher ones selling for less but those aren't the kind of guns that appeal to me.

You're right about 686s not being overnight collector items but nice no-lock S&Ws will steadily decline in number as time moves along.
