686 Pricing needed

I looked at a 686 pre-lock today. The store had it marked at 650.00
Is this a good price or should I offer them less.

You can offer any thing you want but do your homework first. Look at the various auction sites and get an idea what like condition guns are going for. Look in the closed auctions to see what sold and what did not. If you make a reasonable offer, he will at least listen to you. if you low ball with a ridiculous offer, you'll lose your credibility. Plenty of high condition 686's are in that price range. Good luck.

What barrel length? Original wood grips or rubber? Original box?

It all depends on your location and the demand as to what the price should be. The main factor is condition, barrel length, and what goodies it has like the original box, tool kit, and original paperwork. The 4 inch 686 sell for a premium over the 6 inch and then the dash number if any also affect the price. So we need more information to help you with the offer.

I saw a 686 4 inch -1 here and I could have bought it for $475 out the door but it had rubber grips, no goodies, and had been shot a lot and had some rubs and a gouge on the right side of the barrel so I passed. If it had been mint with the goodies I would have paid $600 for it.

ALWAYS offer less! That's just part of the game,like it or not. Especially in a pawn shop! If the gun is really nice,offer them $600 OTD.
