The 686 is one of my all time favorite revolvers, and I own a 4". If I were ever to get into collecting the 686 would probably be what I'd collect. They have a 4" Pro Series for sale at my LGS for 900$ and even though I've learned a lot about the 686 I haven't heard much about these. It's a 7 shot and I'll admit I found the barrel and matte finish off-putting. The worst is it has the lock 🔒 I usually don't buy any revolver with a lock out of sheer disdain for them. Even so it being lighter, 1 round more, moon clip capable, and better trigger has me thinking about it. Any thoughts or experience from you guys on these?

I have a 686+ Pro, 2-5/8". I like the flattened barrel, but not the short extractor. The DA trigger is smooth, with a clean break, but not noticeably better than a non-pro version. N-frame Pro models have better triggers, and ball-detent cranes. My 4" 627 Pro is a shooting star.

Good to know, I think I will hold out for a pre-lock then because if the trigger is not significantly better, that would be the only reason for me.

I have a 686 Pro Series 7 shot 5". To me, everything about it is good, except {H.H.} Bob
