Hi all, I'm new on this forum. I've been a Glock guy for years, but I just bought my first centerfire revolver. A guy I work with was selling his Performance Center and I fell in love with it at first sight It's a 686-4 Light Hunter.

Anyways, I was searching for info on it and came across a thread on this forum about PC guns and a guy listed a similar gun as an N frame, whereas I'm pretty sure it's an L frame, but now I dont know. I cant seem to find hardly any info on the gun. I'd like to know more, so can someone help out the new guy?

Let me be the first to respond......

About your question, I have no idea. But that is a sweet looking revolver! We'll have to take it out shooting sometime. ;)

Welcome to the forum.

Yep..... it's an L-Frame as Macinaw posted. All 686/586 models are L-Frames and are very well suited for the .357-Mag rounds.

BTW---that's a very nice looking gun. Thanks for sharing the pic. :)

If the box is available check the product code. You can find out what you have there with that PC. Or, just call S&W customer service with the serial number and they will tell you exactly what it is. Always works for me.

My appologies. You already ID'ed it as a Light Hunter.

The 686 is always an L frame.

the guy listing it probably confused it with at 629 hunter. that would of course be an N frame. 686 - ALWAYS an L frame...

Welcome to the forum. That is a sweet and relatively uncommon revolver in the Light Hunter config. You will love shooting it!

Oh, and welcome to a great place for all things S&W.
