Hey, I am looking for a video on the reassembly of a 686. I took mine apart to clean and polish. When I went to put it back together I came up with a extra part, the hand torsion spring. I can't figure out how it fits back in.

Also a video on how to diy action job for the 686. I've tried to search the forums for these video but came up empty handed.

Thank-you
Dean

Is there anything I can watch online? I would prefer to get it all back together soon.

Not that I've ever seen, but you might check youtube if you haven't already.

That spring is actually quite easy but if you see it done it makes sense. You can use the hammer block as a tool to hold the spring up while pushing the hand into the trigger. It's been awhile since I did mine, I hope I explained it correctly. In his video Jerry makes a comment jokingly, that he thought that that's why they put the hammer block in the gun! LOL.

The quick way is to take your revolver apart again, removing the trigger from the frame. Put trigger in a padded vise(or something to hold it so you can use both hands). Angle it so you can use a light and look into the back, you'll see a small hole in there. The short end of the hand torsion spring goes there, use some small needle nose pliers and stick it in. Now with a real small punch, screwdriver, whatever, push up on the long arm of the spring and slide the hand into place with that long arm resting on the cross piece pin of the hand and bingo!!! After you've done it once you'll see it's a really neat way to do things. And.....whether you buy a video or not, when you order something parts wise next time, buy some spare hand torsion springs. They will take a trip on you once in awhile!
