Hi everyone,

I was in my local gun store and in his display case is a unfired 686 SSR complete with the performace grips and uncle Mikes grips, box & manual. He wants $699 plus fees which would bring the total $790. Trigger is exceptional and looks like a tack driver. Is the price fair? The revolver is listed at Smith&Wesson for over $1000. Again there is not evidence of the revolver being fired except for the test round. I am not a fan of the internal lock but I do like the way the revolver feels in my hand. Its the closest to my 66-4 4 inch.

So any observations?

$769 shipped from Buds Gun Shop, factory new.
So price sounds about right, if it is LNIB.

The $91 in fees would kill it for me. Why so high? Dealers here charge only the state sales tax(6.5%) on guns they have in stock. They only charge a transfer fee for guns transferred from other dealers, or individuals, and those can range from $15 to $45.

Hi Glock1911. I live in California and state tax is over 9% in most areas. Transfer fees and DOJ fees will consume another $45 or more. That I can't control and right now I can't move out of the state.

Is this gun new or used? Price is absurdly high if used. You can get a new one from Buds for the same price.

Get it if you want it. They run $850 here instock at one store. OOOO Plus tax. No idiot fees like they do in Ca. But we do have idiots that will pay that much for one.

They are everywhere :D . Sound ok on price, you would pay the fees no matter where it comes from, so buy it :D .

I think almost $800 bucks is a bit on the high side. I would see if he will negotiate a little. What is he $91.00 fee for?? If you can get him to eat that, then I would say "pull the trigger".
