New to the board, I broke down and got a 6906. I have lusted after a single stack forever, but the 6906 was there so I had to nab it. Traded an LCP for it.

Haven't shot it, but if it shoots like it looks I am in love. Terrific lines on these guns.

One thing I DON'T love is the Safety/Decocker.
Could they have made a more complicated system?
I can shoot it single action IF I cock it with the safety off, otherwise I can only shoot it DA for the first shot. I can decock it in single action, or use the safety as a true safety.
My only issue, and it's not much to whine about but I wish I could have got a decock only.
Problem is with used guns you cannot be that picky sometimes doing trades.
I plan on using that infernal safety as a decock only, then immediately moving it to off. ( I think it should default to off anyway but that is another story)
Better to leave it in one position in my opinion.
Other than that, I am now a member of the semi auto S&W club!! Along with my model 65 Magnum.

Sweet pistol the 6906. Yours looks great. Congrats!

Down the road you might consider sending it in to S&W and have the decocker/safety switched over to a spring loaded decock only. Sounds like you might like that option more.

Enjoy your 6906! Regards 18DAI.

I'm with you on this. That's why I prefer the serrated bobbed hammer and the half-cock in the 2nd gen's. 469 & 669 are a lot easier to get a single action first shot.
I know some where made with a slide mounted decock only (don't know model numbers), and there's the frame mounted decocking version of yours, the 6926.

I had no idea I could have Smith alter the gun to De-cock only.
That would make my day for sure.
Anybody else have this done and have a price and time for completion?
