Bought a used mag and when received looked as if it had been polished with some kind of metal polish. The follower had white stuff dried on it and some had gotten between it and the magazine tube. Things were kind of binding.
Took it apart and cleaned it out but still does'nt operate as smooth as I would like. The spring seems to have plenty of tension. My question is, would it cause any problem if I lightly coated the follower(not top or bottom) with lubriplate then wiped it off. It would seem that it might function smoother. Thanks for any comments.

I don't ever put any lubricant on or in the mag. It justs attracts dirt. Just make sure that after you clean the mag body, you use something to get rid of all the crap you scrubbed loose. I clean my mags with Hoppes, and then get the fattest rag I can and pull it through the mag body a couple of times. Our pistol range is in very sandy soil, and during qualifications, any mag that hits the deck becomes a "Sugar Cookie". I clean my 669 mags this way, and have never had a problem. If you do have a bum mag, 6906 mags are cheap and plentiful. I'd dump it/use it for parts, and buy a new one.
