6906 Makeover

Picked up a 6906 earlier this year that was a LE turn in weapon. Finish was pretty bad as you can see in the first photo. But the price was too good to pass up. Decided to have pistol Cerakoted to correct the finish problem and also wanted something that was somewhat unique. Decided to go with OD green on the frame and black on the slide. Work was done by Brad Hemric at East Coast Precision Rifles in Reidsville,NC, and he did a wonderful job. Very precise with his work and went the extra mile to make sure everything was just right.

Also wanted to have laser grips but CT doesn't make grips for the 6906. After searching the S&W Forum found out John, aka Hill Country in San Antonio was converting 5900 CT grips to fit the 6906. After speaking with him decided to get a set for my 6906 as well as a set for my wifes 908. Grips arrived as promised and fit great with only a small amount of fine tuning.

Finished product tuned out just great and I am very please with it. So just because a pistol has a little wear on it doesn't mean that it can't turn into something very nice with a little time, effort and or course a few more $$$!! Pictures were taken with a cell phone camera so they are not the best quality and also the final cleaning on the weapon had not been done.

I generally like the 6906 finish the way it came from the factory, but yours sure is a bit beat up. That aside, the Cerakoat treatment is very well done and looks good. Individual tastes being what they are, I would have done it all green for that Parkerized look.

Great looking gun and you are going to love it.

The 6906 is kind of a dark horse and frequently overlooked amongst all the high capacity tupperware. That poor weapon was a little tired to begin with, but you did a really nice job of tricking it out. Almost seems a shame to conceal something so pretty.

That turned out a whole lot better than I would have predicted if I had just heard about the plan before seeing the end result.

It's up to the owner to decide if a gun needs a facelift, and then to decide how aggressive he wants to be in putting that new face on it. I probably would not have had the courage to make a two-tone choice, but I think that turned out very well. Nice save.

I was a little nervous about my color choice before I saw the finished product. But like Brad told me, if I really didn't like it we could just re-shoot it a different color for just a few dollars more. The original purchase price was so good I could afford to take a chance.

Thanks for the nice comments about my project. Hopefully it inspires someone else to get creative.
