6906 slide lock question

Greetings, I have in hand my new 6906 and can't get to the range for a while but have a question. When I pull the slide back it locks open. Is this normal when an empty mag is inserted? I can't find the answer in the manual but suspect it is. I suppose I could load the mag and chamber a round but since I am not at a place I can fire it I would rather not. I'm a revolver guy and this is my first pistol. Am I being overly cautious? Thanks.

It sounds like it's working correctly.
It's the last shot hold open feature.

No worries. Completely normal function.
I know you are just itching to get to the range and shoot that thing, but it is best to wait until you get to the range. Enjoy your 6906!

The mag follower is what pushes the slide lock up when the mag is empty. Normal ops.
