This is my first S&W Semi-Auto so I am not too familiar with their workings. This 6906 is close to new and the slide release lever is very stiff to operate. What can be done to make it a little easier to operate?

since its a metal gun....make sure there is lube/oil in the metal to metal points
if you have an empty mag installed in the new/old gun, it will be difficult to utilize the slide lock lever.
remove the magazine and it should be easier.
shoot the gun with lubrication will allow some wear and ease of use.
try to avoid "dropping the slide" on an empty chamber. other that make a cool movie sound....its was designed to feed a round when doing that.
If someone were to do that with my gun, I would get it back from them.

Thanks for your info. In time I am bound to find out some of the quirks of the gun.
