My latest pair of "bucket list" Smiths include a boxed 696-1 44 Special and a boxed 66F-Comp 357 Mag, number 9 of 300. I traded a 649, 642, and $500 for the pair. I wanted them bad when I saw them......I am happy!

I owned a PC 66 F-Comp and a 696 also. Love my F-Comp and still own it. Just could'nt fall in love with the 696 so I sold it for enough to buy a 625 JM and a 629 Mountain Revolver and never looked back. You have a very nice pair of revolvers.

What I am carrying off duty right now. Had it since 94.

Two fine guns - I have a 696 and had a 586L comp but sold that one because I HATE the lock. I'd like to find a 66f comp - you should be real happy.

My tritium front sight went dark years ago. I called S&W for a replacement but they no longer make it. Bummer.

Mine is nearly dark also. However, I do believe the original manufacturer of the sight, Trijicon, can help you out. That's what my local gunsmith said. I haven't persued getting one yet, but will in the near future.

I also have both models an F Comp & a 696. I would not like to do without either of them. Both are great revolvers, and each have their place. I carry each one of them regularly.

I haven't had the F comp for a long time, and could not bring myself to pay the large extra amount necessary to get one without the IL, so I have a dash 6 with a PLUG.

I also own a 696-1 and wouldn't trade itt for anything. Though I would like to buy a 696 no dash. :D

gents, just super nice guns guys, and nice pictures also.i would trade any gun i have for a 66 f comp.i love that gun.while we are on the subject,do you think there is much difference between the 66 f comp, with hole in front of sight, compared to a maganport slot on the sides of sights??
thanks guys for advice

I have an L-Comp, and absolutely love it. It has the dreaded lock, and I got it for an incredible price, I really don't think the dealer I bought it from had a clue it was anything other than a 586. Mine is carried every so often, and it is surprisingly accurate for the short barrel. I feel the comp does mitigate recoil, or more accurately, muzzle flip on this gun compared to a standard 586. I'd love to get an F-Comp to go with it.

I have had Magnaported revolvers in the past. My recollection is that the compensation port on the FCOMP is better. My MP guns seemed to have more bright gas out of the smaller slits. The single larger port is hardly noticeable to me when fired.
